xd card corruption

Hi I have an XD 256mb memory card which seems to be corrupt. I think I need to re-format the card but have no idea how as the camera will not do it. A salesman said to format it using windows.
1. Will it work ?
2. Is it good idea ?

it is possible to do it in windows, however it is wise to do it on the camera.
what camera do you have? it might have the format feature burried in a menu...

Hi, I have a fuji finepix S3500, couldn't find it in the manual and it won't let me do an erase all on the card. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hmm tricky - not having a Fuji - check out the write ups at Imaging resourse and at Steves Digicams. Failing that - do you know anyone with an Olympus?? They can do it easily!!

Hi All, thankyou for your help, i contacted fuji and olympus and got told by both that i neede to ringthe billable support. I tried to format it using the card reader i have and my pc and all is now fixed.
