Kodak CX7330, PLEASE HELP

I've been having a problem with some of my photos. If I take a photo with the dial set on auto with the flash also set to auto the picture will pick up every blemish, etc on the subjects face, also it made one of my firends face's look pale after she had done her makeup and it didn't look like that in actuality. I tried turning the flash off since I was indoors but that wasn't much help (maybe it was the lighting of the room); should i try adjusting the flash to "fill?" Any suggestions are appreciated, I need to know whether I should switch to a different brand. I used a friend's Canon and the pictures came out great. PLEASE HELP!!

The appearance of any resulting photo will vary based on:

*the ambient light in the room
*the distance from the flash to the subject
*the reflective qualities of a girl's makeup
*the color of the ceiling which is bouncing light back into your photo.
