Peter Costello said: "One for dad, one for mum and one for Australia". Where are the other 2 Forno?

Well... it won't be long now before he has a go with your camera if you don't keep it safe. :D

Very cute! How do you manage to keep him still long enough to take a pic? :)

very easy....make the mommy do all the 'diverting/attention grabbing' effort while you click away 20 or so pictures. You'll get at least one right ;). Thats why we have 3fps....or more... :D

Btw love that last picture...will try it with my niece...

Agree with the others - love the perspective on #4. But how'd you get the nice DOF effect in the background and the blur on the red swing in the foreground (don't know what that's called technically)????

I'm a parent of a 13 month old, and I have an XTi and kit lens, and usually don't get this kind of DOF. Oh, and another thing, I'm a newbie at this so your tips will certainly me help as I develop this skill.

LOL, by spending 2k on a lens:p

Serously though, your kit elns has an aperture range of 3.5 - 5.6 from memory and is a short focal lenghth.

The lens I used is a 2.8 aperture and a long focal lenght both of these characteristics help with the background blur (bokeh)

So basically the larger the aperture(small number like f/1.8 or f/2.8) make less of the photo in focus, where as if you use a small aperture (f/9 for example) lots of the photo will be in focus, generaly you would use large apertures for isolating the subject such as a portrait and you would use small apertures for things like landscapes where you want the whole shot to be in focus and sharp
