G6 now or wait?

I realise the G6 has been out for 5 months now and I am tempted to get one. But I am afraid my worst nightmare will come true - the G7 will be released not long after I buy the G6. Anyone care to advice if this fear is warranted?

What are you worrying about? Your G6 will still work as well as it did when it was a brand new camera, after the G7, G8, G9, G99 come out.

Yeah I realise that but, if G7 were to come out I'd guess it were the same price as the G6 but with better specs. It would seem more value for money as its the same price but with better specs. :confused:

The main thing is image quality and there isnt a right lot of room for improvment on that score as the G6 is that good.

I have heard rumors of a new Canon A series and S series but nothing about the G series. I would just shop around and find a good deal and make the leap. Just think of all of the Amazing pictures you might be missing out on by waiting.....The G6 is pretty much perfect. Not much that can be improved upon :)

At 7.1 megapixels, there's no real room for improvement in that departmen. The video mode could be improved and maybe the zoom range extended to 5x and given a wider-angle wide end. Other than that, there's nothing to improve. I'd say go with the G6 unless you really want to wait another 6 months for the G7 to come out (at a much higher price).

I have used my Canon G-6 now for almost 4 months and it is a great digital camera. I've looked at your posted digital photos and you do a great job. I am sure that you will be very pleased with the Canon G-6.

If they cram any more pixels on to the G series lets hope they add a larger CCD sensor..

I would rather own a G2,G3 over a G6 anyday.

The release of the next G series is a bit hard to predict. So far, every series came out in a different month. I'd say go for the G6.

I have been around for a long time and I have owned and extensively used every one of the G series digital cameras. I hhappen to believe the G-6 is the best of the bunch.
