View Full Version : Hair on my images!

Just noticed that all my photos have a fuzzy hair on the upper left of the image.
I used two lenses and it still shows on all images. I can Photoshop the hair away, but how do I clean whatever I need to clean?
Where exactly do I look or blow or whatever?
I'm wary, cause I've heard some things about no getting dust in the camera.

I'd appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Nikon D50 with std and zoom Nikkor DX lens.

Can you post some samples? It could be dirt within your camera or the lens. You should check both.

He's used more then one lens, so it's probably in the camera body.

Raven if you have a dirty sensor like it sounds then have a look here. Check out the 'how to' links at the left side of the link. http://www.sensor-film.com I've used it & it works a treat, it's also very easy to do.

See attached photo... hair is on upper left quadrant, vertical position.
It seems to be in the same spot each photo. Although the hair is more blurry on some photos.

Thanks T06, the product looks interesting. I can't buy it in my small city, and I need to shoot today and tomorrow.

Any other suggestions?

I had the exact same thing (but a smaller hair.) It is inside the camera. I tried a hurricane blower, which blew out some of the dust, but the hair remained. Then I used the brush on the Nikon Lens Pen (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006JN3G/ref=pd_sl_aw_flat-hi_cecamera_42277362_1) and, voila, perfectly clean. The Lens Pen is great, but not necessary IMO. I didn't realize that it actually doesn't even have any cleaning solution. It's just a microfiber cloth circle on the end of the "pen," with a brush on the other end. It works great though.

Tori that will definitely work but be careful what you use to WIPE or BRUSH with. The least amount of contact in there the better as eventually it will be detrimental. The film idea I really like as it is a liquid that solidifies. Like Tori says try a rocket blower or go to a camera shop where they just might have an oxygen bottle handy where you can squirt a good dollup of air in there to dispel it.

Thanks all!
Took the lens off. Locked the shutter up.
Turned camera upside down.
Use a simple rubber blower brush that I had.
Blew a few times into the camera and voilą!
Clean as can be!

T06,
But I do like that film idea and will have to get a bottle.
