Hi all,

I just got my Sigma 30mm EX DC HSM lens yesterday. The lens is great except I noticed something - the one on the website that I wanted to get has the AF/M switch on the lens. The one I received doesn't have that switch, just an EX logo. Did I receive a grey market lens and if I did, should I return it and get something different? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

From what I've heard, HSM lenses are usually/always full-time-manual focus - So if at any time you turn the focus ring you get instant manual control, without a switch. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

The one on the website is probably a Canon mount lens. The Canon bodies do not have a separate AF/M switch like Nikon does, so Sigma put one on the lens for them. Nikon doesn't need the switch.

It could be, but every site that I went to (B&H, Adorama and Sigma) have the same image. In any case, I spoke to someone at B&H store in the lens section about it and he said he hasn't seen anything like it and why it doesn't have a switch. I'll post up a shot of what I have and the one on the Sigma site. The lens seems to work great though, manual or AF alike :)

I have this lens in a Nikon mount, and it does not have an AF/M switch. Maybe the photo Sigma released for promo is the Canon mount.

I think I heard somewhere that the lack of an AF/M switch is a recent alteration by Sigma.
