I take pictures of antique clothing buttons, which have lots of detail. What camera feature is most important for doing this (the macro?) and do any of you have suggestions regarding cameras. I'm trying to stay under $300.
Thanks in advance.

Susan...Canon A75. Under $200 and great macro (5cm or 2 inches). make sure to buy a mini tripod as well. :) It's all you need and has manual controls if you ever want to learn how to take beter shots than "auto" provides.

Susan-

You might also want to look at the Pentax S5i which has a macro and a super macro mode on it. I own one and I am very pleased with its macro performance.
