Help me out folks. I love my 100 mm macro lens, but I want more magnification. I know I can use extension tubes, but I don't want to lose the working distance. Would a teleconverter give me more magnification while not reducing my working distance? If so, what's a good but cheap option?
Thanks!
P.S. I can't use a diopter filter 'cause then I couldn't use my MR-14EX.
yes, a TC will give you more magnification per se becasue you will fill the frame with more of the subject. it will also give you a nicer dof. on the downside, you do lose some IQ and sharpness if you go for anything other than a 1.4x.
Yeah I'm of the same opinion. If you're into the macro/micro thing to me the t/c might be a waste as in the degrading of sharpness, my comments are based on the Nikkor 70-200mm VR with the T/C 1.7, the degradation is very little but it is there, this from a zoom that'll cut a swathe through most things.;)
