hello!
Who knows a good normal to small sized (i'd like it to fit in my pocket) camera with many manual settings. Its so hard to find a good one. I'm thinking about the canon A95 but I'd like one who is a little bit smaller... anyone?

Just off the top of my head, I can think of the Sony V1, Fuji 510, and Nikon 5400. I think the Fuji and Sony will be a bit smaller. Check out the reviews here and at the Steve's digicam site. Also, Nikon has a $200 rebate going on right now for the 5400.

Thanks, I like cameras that are more than just point and shoot.
Thats why I love cameras if they have a lot of settings. Black and White nice night shots etc...

Phil points out that the Nikon 5400 has a great deal going right now. I just ordered one from newegg, I'll post some info about it when I get it sometime next week. Here is how it breaks down:

Nikon Coolpix 5400 from newegg.com: $474.95

Epson R200 Photo printer: $84.00

Camera rebate from Nikon: -$200

Camera/Printer rebate from Nikon: -$100

Total price after rebates: $258.95

The Nikon has lots of accessories and tons of features. I like the option of the hot shoe flash and the lens adaptors. Check out www.nikonusa.com for the accessories and the rebates.

hope this helps.

There's also the Canon S60 which has as many features as the A95 with a 28mm lense.

V1... or W1? v1 is kinda big for a pocket ain't it? sony p100, p150, and the upcoming p200 all have a pretty decent amount of manual controls for such a small package. the W1 does the same but is the biggest of the small sony cams.

Nope, not for my pockets anyway. The V1 isn't even as wide as a P150....

At any rate, it looks like you didn't notice that the original posting requested "normal to small sized" cameras, and certainly the V1 falls into this category. I also consider the request for "many manual settings" to include aperture and shutter priority modes, and not just full manual. The P series do not have these settings.

I did not bring up the W1, mainly because it does not fit the person's requirements, at least how I interpret them....
