canon S1 IS , panasonic FZ3 any thoughts?

I am looking at these 2 cameras . I will be using for kids sports and mainly outdoors. I have read reviews on both and they seem to be very good. I see where the S1 IS has more purple fringing and the FZ3 has more corner darkening on some shots. I like that the canon uses AA batteries but am still leaning towards the FZ3. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

This has been discussed many times here and on the other digicam forums, and the short answer seems to be: if you value movie mode, go for the Canon. Otherwise, go for the Panny.

I agree with Phil!

I own the Canon S-1 and the Panasonic FZ-20 both. I usually opt to use the FZ-20. However, if video is the issue, then it is the Canon S-1.
