Hi
First let me say, Nice forum. Hello everyone. I normally just read to learn but from time to time I ask. Nows that time.

My digital camera has a problem.
When I turn it on all I see is black with static looking lines in it.

What happened? Can it be repaired? Will it be $$$$?

Thanks for your time.

Might help us if you could tell us exactly what camera, how old, if it still takes the pictures fine and you just can't see them on the camera, if any shock or damage has occurred, if it does the same thing in movie and picture mode, if you've tried new batteries, and anything else that might possibly help us.

Sorry, I should have done that.
Its a Minolta Dimage 7i
No shock that I know of. (I do have a 15 year old. we'll let that speak for it's self)
Same thing with new batteries, and A/C.
Does same in movie mode. I think.
I cant find the power cord now but as I remember, it's the same in all modes. Won't take a picture either.
Just a black viewfinder with static lines. (yes, I took off the lens cap)
I guess the camera is older, I really haven't used it much though.
Sorry, can't think of anything els t tell you about it.

Considering Minolta no longer exists, and I think Sony's year they said they would continue to service Minolta after they bought them out is up, you may have a paper weight on your hands. Considering the camera is only worth around $100 if it were in perfect working order, you've hopefully gotten your money's worth out of it since you've had it. If it won't take a picture period, your best bet is to call Sony and see if they have any advice, but chances are it would cost you more to repair than it would to replace.

Thanks very much, I was afraid of that. No, didn't get my money's worth.
I didn't know Minolta went out.
As for the paper weight, well, along with the bills it would be holding down, I'd just cry more.

Thanks again. Greatly appreciated.
