That was a lot faster review than the D300

Given that they could copy and paste half of the D40x review into this one, I'm not terribly surprised.

Does not seem like a lot of d40 users are going to upgrade,
it would be more like side grade. Although there is that cool metal
disc on the command dial.

not sure it was every aimed at d40 users though

Sarcastic mate, its certainly not aimed at current users. Looks like a great entry level dslr though.

Could they not add a couple of more focus points, I do not understand why cameras do not have focus points at the rule of thirds intersections plus center.

Yeah, that's one aspect that perhaps was dummied down a little too much.

Way too expensive.

Just get a D80.

Yea, it does seem pricey for an entry level. The D40X was about $200 cheaper than the D60. The D80 costs about the same now, but you don't get the VR lens. Does Nikkon sell the 18-55mm VR lens separately? If so, what is the MSRP?

Around $180.

And the D80 is sold in a kit with the 18-55 VR lens for $859 now.

What about this http://www.us1photo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5529 ;)
I think the price for the KIT is great deal !

Are you sure ? The price of D40X (body) in its last days was exactly 100$ lower that the actual price of the D60 body. But the difference for the KITs is only about 65$ at the moment provided that you get VR lens ...

The extra $130 for the D80 is worth it. It's a significantly better body.
