I'm looking at buying a new camera to replace a dead Minolta. I've been looking at the Nikon P50 and Canon A570 IS and was wondering if anyone has experience with either one and would offer recommendations on which is the better camera for the price.

Thanks,

Paul

Unfortunately I don't know much about cameras. I do actually use the Cannon A570IS. I've never had any issues with it. I like it just fine. However, just because I like it doesn't mean it's any good. I think it takes good pictures...but again what's good for me may not be good for you. boy i'm a ton of help huh. i guess the best suggestion i can give you is to get either one at amazon. way cheap there as opposed to getting it at target or best buy.

this is a link to the cannon at amazon. there are close to 400 reviews on this camera. may be more helpful for you then me. hope i was at least a little bit of help. good luck

The Canon A570IS has optical image stabilization but the P50 has electronic stabilization which is not as effective. The Canon has more manual options than the Nikon.

However ultimately it's a question of which has more appealing image quality. That's why it makes sense to compare the photos on a photo site such as Flickr:
