After an unfortunate incident on a recent trip to Disneyworld my D50 ended up taking a longer taxi ride than I did (I know... herding a party of 6, including two preschoolers both overwhelmed with excitement at the prospect of breakfast with Tigger, and messing with cash to pay the driver, I left my camera on the floor of the van :( )

Good news is the Mouse didn't completely empty my wallet, I never quite got around to buying the new glass I had my eye on prior to the trip, and my travel insurance paid up without any trouble so after a couple of weeks of agonizing and contemplation I just today ordered a D300 with, effectively, a very nice discount thanks to the insurance... I'll be telling the wife about the new glass required for it later ;) - thinking 18-135 & the 70-300mm VR would pair with it quite nicely for starters without totally breaking the bank.

Oh well - better go update my .sig

And if you buy a used D50 in the Orlando area that comes with unexpected pictures of an idiot in a Tigger shirt on a Segway in the Italian section of Epcot - please send me the pictures and spit in the eye of the guy who sold it to you.

I'm thinking posting the pictures here may actually be more interesting. :D
I'm glad things worked out.

The thing that would anger me would not be losing the camera but the memory card inside. I would HATE to have a total stranger get their hands on personal pictures, especially of children.

Although if you shot in NEF, maybe the new owner wont be bright enough to figure out how to view them! :D

That is a good point. An alien file format is almost as good as encryption for 99% of thieves out there. Although I would be more worried about the cost of the gear than the files stored on it.

Wow, good for you with the insurance, but what a pain to lose your camera. It is so annoying when we do stuff like that.

Years ago I left my camera hanging from the stroller. I picked up my DD to see an animal and my camera was gone. Dumb thing (on my part), but I have never looked back. (It was my last film camera.) The most annoying part of the whole day was that I had pictures of me and my friends on that camera that can never be replaced. I kept walking around the zoo looking to see if anyone had my camera.

Enjoy your new toy when it arrives.
