A720IS Clicking Noise

I just bought this camera and notice it makes a 'clicking/crackling' noise I never noticed with my A610. Is this the Image Stabilization system? Is it normal or a problem? Thanks............

We've got a A720 IS and haven't noticed any strange clicking noises in still mode. The only noise we get is on the soundtrack in movie mode (a rhythmic, low-level sort of swooshing sound in the background which I've been told is the autofocus?) but nothing otherwise.

Does it happen consistently; only at start-up; during auto focus; when you're zooming; or intermittently? Is it easily discernible at ambient background noise levels, or do you have to stick your ear against the camera body? Does it sound "electronic" or mechanical?

The IS should be totally silent.

If you reckon it's a major problem, I'd take it back to the point of purchase, and ask for a replacement under their DOA policy.
