I am just curious if anyone has used both the XT and XTi and happens to prefer the older XT for any reason?

Often camera manufactures cut corner in new models, and though some feature may be useful, it might miss on other changes.

I still have not concluded that my XTi upgrade from XT was worthwhile...still testing...but Ive read alot about how the 10MP could actually make it worse.

comments welcome.

I never had an XTi but I hated the XT.

I had an XT bought an XTi and returned the XTi. Didn't find it much of an upgrade over the XT.

My brother has the XTi, I've played with it a little. I like my good 'ol XT. I feel like I'm wasting so much battery life viewing my shooting information on that big screen. I liked my little tiny lcd screen with the info on it... or, you know. looking through the lens.

plus, it could sense my face.. how weird is that? :-p

I preferred my XT mostly because I'm familiar with it, I'm sure once I got to know the face-sensor I would grow to like it. :D

I have an XTi, and there is no way I am going to upgrade to the XSi, I would probably feel the same way about switching from an XT to XTi. Upgrading from an XT to an XSi would be more attractive, but I am waiting on the 50D.

I don't like that lcd lighting up all the time. was bothersome at night always flashing off and on. I found it distracting at night. I only played with a friends for a few days. I bought the 40D instead. I like the feel of it much better and ergonomics are better for me.

One press of the Disp button and the LCD turns off.

That would have been nice to know when I had it. Should have downloaded the user guide, didn't think about it then. oh well.
No regrets I think I still would have upgraded to the 40D.Then get yelled at by the wife for upgrading, yet another electronic "gadget". Better to bite the bullet once. I find the larger grip is easier to use, but it does get heavy after awhile.

I hear ya, talkingdog, about the wife and the upgrading....

My thoughts. I think both the XTi and the XSi are worthy upgrades to their successors. Clearly, both are better cameras than the ones which came before.

But, if I had an XT, then I don't think buying an XTi makes sense. And, if I had a XTi, I don't think the upgrade to the XSi makes sense either... BUT!!!!! For certain kinds of shooting, I do think that the XTi-->XSi can make sense if you really want Live View.

XT-->XSi? Maybe, if your XT is getting crusty and you like the form factor.

I think the upgrade path from Canon's point of view is Rebel series, up to xxD series. Then maybe 1D series if you really get serious. They don't really expect Rebel owners to upgrade each time they release a new Rebel. Instead, the Rebel's are refreshed so that the line can continually attract first-time SLR owners, not existing SLR owners.
