That's some strange stuff Drama; always pushing the envelope with your images.

imo, they are a little too noisy and not quite sharp enuf. too much cropping ?? the composition isn't the best either imo. it does take alot of patience to get bug macros right...especially with only a 60mm focal length.

i like the dof in both and the background colour is quite nice.

I agree, have had very little practise with the 60 & I was working in low light
Here is one in better light, you can see it larger on flickr

thats a much better image than the first 2 in every way. very nice shot. :)

my main suggestion is when using a larger aperture, (which i much prefer), just like with people you need to make sure the nearest eye to the frame is the focal point no matter what. otherwise, it looks to be OOF.

i can see that image is nice and sharp but at first glance it looks like its OOF or you missed the focal point.

Thanks rooz :)
My focal point was the eye

a 100% crop, of the eye

wierd, in the normal version it looks like the focal point is just in front of the antennae. must be the contrast causing optical illusion.

Drama - once again, amazing images. I'm always impressed with your macro shots and how sharp they are. If you have a macro lens, why do you use the 70-200 so often (not that the results aren't impressive)? Keep it up.

Thanks :)
The 70 200 is avery sharp zoom, allowing you take decent macroish shots plus zoom out for those tele shots too, hence my favorite walkaround

This series was taken with my 60 mm macro
