Browsing the web the other day, I saw some utterly ridiculous prices...
Ridiculous prices (http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/additions/category.asp?brand=additions&extra=&mscs_sid=27QAH4FUDVJG8M7BCBF0JND0KS5A1NB1&fh_location=//additions/en_GB/categories%3C{8007}/categories%3C{9030}/categories%3C{8605}&fh_reffacet=categories&fh_view_size=99)

I can't believe that (at the time of posting) they stated:

Fuji 512Mb XD Memory Card £229.00
Fuji 512Mb SD Card £149.00
Fuji 512Mb Compact Flash Card £129.00
Fuji 256Mb Film Memory Stick £109.00
Fuji 256Mb Compact Flash Card £109.00
Fuji 256Mb XD Memory Card £109.00
Fuji 256Mb SD Card £79.00
Fuji 128Mb Film Memory Stick £54.00
Fuji 128Mb XD Memory Card £49.00
Fuji 128Mb Compact Flash Card £49.00
Fuji 128Mb SD Card £39.00

I did email them at least 24 hours ago to tell them their prices were out of the real world - especially when I can buy 128mb CF for £8.50, 256MB CF for £16 and 512mb for £30. Check www.7dayshop.com!

Lol. They must surely have got a lunatic doing their pricing!

Rhys, that almost cracks me up. But I see it occassionally. I work for a reseller of mobile computer terminals and scanners (those inventory and checkout barcode scanners). About 6 months ago they had a huge list of product price changes, both up and down. Now they do not manufacture memory cards, but they resell them for some terminals. Out of several hundred price changes it you would have expected that CF cards might have dropped. Well, not like you would expect. Prior to June 2004 their price for a 64MB CF card was $149 or so. After the changes it dropped to a low $79 in October. Sometimes resellers don't have such great deals on stuff they foolishly bough tin quantity earlier. Some of their other CF card prices actually went UP.

Deflation is a nightmare for most retailers. One of the local shops found out the hard way after I advised them not to hold much in the way of stock of memory cards etc that prices plummet.
