I have been looking at compact digital cameras, and want something that will fit into my pants pocket easily. I have read some good things about the canon sd200 ($250). I am worried because it is so small that it will break or i will drop it, and i dont think it is very durable. Anyways i want to buy it from an internet retailer, but am not sure what the return policies are, and if I would go through canon if it broke or the retailer. Also was wondering if canon has a pretty liberal return policy.(i.e. just mail it in etc.), or if anyone has any experience with returning digital cameras to any company. if anyone has other suggestions for small digital cameras that would be helpful. It has to be able to fit into my pants pocket otherwise i would rarely use it, or lose it(under $300).
if it's too big to fit in your pants pocket, then you would loose it? huh? or do you mean you'll set it down and forget it? anyways, the return policy is up to the seller, not the manufacturer/canon. check the return policy of the the place of purchase. usually you will have to pay to ship the item back if purchased online. i'm not sure why a camera would break if it were small - maybe if you tried to bend it or something. it's not something that you would exert force upon. sure you could drop it if it were too small, but whether or not it is too small for you to handle, well that's your call - you also want it to fit in your pocket at the same time. i don't think many places or manufacturers cover physical damage on your part as part of their responsibility. you might think about buying at a local retailer, and ask about their return policy/restocking fees before you buy. the casio exilim line is worth looking at, but personally i'd go with the sd200.
btw, i thought you had already bought the sd200 from what i read on the memory card threads

ref thanks for the reply. I have a camera on order from internet retailer, just hadnt got an sd card yet, and still havent found one that im going to get, nice catch are you a detective (lol). your right though, i have never had a film camera that i didnt misplace, now that im getting a digital i figured i would get something that could fit in my pocket, I am worried that i might not be able to hang on to it with my big hands and think i might drop it alot b/c its so small. I will find out soon enough, have read many positive consumer reviews on it though, sounds like a great camera.

HA! that comment on about being a detective is really a good one. I just happened to have read that sd card thread right before this one. those buttons really might be too small if you have big hands, but i don't think it'll break from normal use. maybe loosing this cam won't be as much of a problem, since I am assuming it costs much more than your previous film cams which will probably make you more careful with it. anyhow, good luck
