Wow, Don ... I wasn't quite sure who took this image. Could you clear that up? :p

LOL. I figure this way if anyone thieves it and tries to play the "It's fair use cuz we couldn't get a hold of the owner" excuse, it won't hold up. :D

Another one. I know I should have told her to unlock her elbow but, oh well. She was my first serious portrait session.

Great use of fill flash on the first shot. Second one is just plain cool... Good job!

Thanks pete. But that first one started out as a really BAD use of fill flash.

BTW: Do they "pop" for you?

If you mean like saturation/contrast, I'd say "yes". But getting good sat/contrast with backlit photos is tough, as I'm sure you know. The second one is also good, though it looks like you shot on an overcast day/or late in the afternoon.

Hmm interesting take on it. I shot them both within 6 minutes and about 30 feet of each other. You're right about backlit being tougher for contrast. The first one (which was actually shot after the 2nd one) was very low contrast, so while it doesn't look heavily processed, or at least I hope it doesn't, it was actually a good deal of work.

I should correct what I said earlier about bad fill flash. The balance was about right but the color temp of the flash against the warm back lighting really made it look bad. The lack of contrast certainly didn't help matters.

They definitely pop, especially the first one.
