Hello, Does anyone know why this camera will not focus in a low light level or how to correct that problem?

Also, When I send images from the camera to my computer via the USB cable provided, why does the camera lens extend in that mode?

1. Probably because there is no AF assist lamp. Carry a keychain type penlight to illuminate the subject as you half-press the shutter to focus. Turn the light off before you take the picture. I did this with my CP990 (and other AF lamp deficient cameras) and you get quite good at it. And it works!

2. It may be because that is the lens position in playback mode (?).
