There hasn't been much posted lately so I thought I would post some recent work.

Did you only use the 2 prime lenses listed? If so, both, or just one? Seems like a zoom would be almost necessary for live band work, since you have to kind of stand in a few spots only. I'm interested in live band work, so any insights would be appreciated. They look cool.

Thanks!

I used the 35mm 1.4 for all the shots above. I use primes because I need the extra large apertures.

The average exif for the above images are ISO 3200, F 1.6, SS 1/80. Having a zoom lens @2.8 would be too restrictive for me. I wouldn't be able to get the Shutter speeds I need to freeze action. I also feel like using a single focal length forces me to be a little more creative with my composition. If I was shooting in better venues I could probably get away with a zoom.

Nice stuff Nick; I especially like the "feel" of the last one - its grainy but I like it that way.

Nick...

The last shot KILLS! Are you getting paid for these great shots? Because you should be. You're past the learning stage and are ready for the earning stage (notice my clever use of the word "stage" :D:D:D).
