I must have gooned something up (operator error is very likely) because the AF area on my D70 is now stuck in the 12 o'clock position (the top AF area in the five section 'cross') when I'm in a mode that doesn't auto-select it for me. For example, when I'm in Shutter Priority ('S') mode, I can't move the AF area anymore - it stays stuck at the top. In 'Auto' or some of the scene modes (haven't tried them all), it selects different areas on its own (as it should).

Is there a menu setting to fix this? I tried the CSM menu 03 (AF-area mode) already. Didn't work.

Thanks in advance.

Im not too familiar with that body, but I know some bodies have a switch to "lock" in the focus area, on the D200 is a lil lever next to the LCD. Maybe you have yours set to "L"? If you even have one on your body?

Ok, if I didn't have the prize locked up already, I now have officially won the DSLR Dumbass award of the month (year??). :D:D:D:D

Thanks jcon - that was exactly it!! One of these days, I will read that manual! ;)
