I did not shoot these with a filter I edited then in Photo Shop using the plug-in Real Grain. Not the best pictures to try to convert.

Here's an enhanced B&W of a color image I took back in 2006, in St. Charles, IL ... on the Rock River, when the TAMRON SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) lens first came out. I kind of liked it, your eyes are immediately drawn to the brightest part of the image ... and the perspective lines lead you there, also. So it really works ... but again ... it's also a PS CS3 modification with the altered B&W tones.

It comes from this little fella ...

The B&W sliders really can make things pop, all by themselves. Rather non-descript clouds now look quite dramatic in the image.

Hello Don

They both look great. I think it looks better in color.

Yeah, the B&W tends to make it cold and very sixties-ish. I know, I've got a few old shots that look very similar.

The point of this shot was to demonstrate how well the lens worked against candid landscape shots. It was a beautiful Spring day, a little brisk ... and I toted around a tripod for about a day, looking for some likely candidates ... and this one was "the one" that won. :D

Again ... another landscape ... modified B&W

Then there's that kind of pop-culture/halfway stuff ...

What's with that? The "fringe" element?

Very nice shots. I tried to fix the seagull picture but I think I made it look B&W
