Hi guys,
after contributing throughout past year to the "some s3 pics" thread, reading alot, and using the s3 as a teacher, i am the proud owner of a 3 hrs old 40D and 24-70 L !!!! gush i've waited looong time for this moment!
but now it's time to get the CPL and an UV (i know 40d's sensor is "blind" to UV but as protection against scratches)
what brand do you recommend? i was thinking to go for Hoya SHMC, what do you think?
thanks allot,
Dorin

Congrats to your new "toy" . :)
Some might argue that B+W are superior, but they are also way more expensive. Mine are both from Hoya/Kenko (same company, same filters, different brand) and I am quite satisfied with them.
I got them at Ebay for a rather decent price at that reseller:

This shop was recommended here and they served me well, too (I have no connection to them other that being a satisfied customer). :)

I have the Kenko Pro 1 CPL, which is the same as the Hoya - nice filter.
I got mine from that seller as well; he's in Hong Kong, but he's legit; no worries mate. ;)

I use Hoya S-HMC Pro 1's for my 77mm filters. I have the S-HMC Pro1 CPL, and the S-HMC Pro 1 UV for my 70-200/2.8 VR and 12-24/4. Great filters.
They are rather pricey, but I have seen no image degradation with either of these filters. I purchased mine fro this guy on Ebay.

I don't know where you are located, but if you are in the United States, I highly recommend these guys. Fast shipping, great prices, and always dependable.

A friend of mine has a store on e-bay and has written articles on filters, might be worth your time going to check it out.
