I finally have the money for a DSLR. ($450). I can get the Canon XT for that amount new. However, since the XTi has been replaced by the XSi, how soon do you think the price will go down? Will it go down to $450?

Not anytime soon. You can get a brand new XTi from B&H for $520 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/457506-REG/Canon_1236B002_EOS_Digital_Rebel_XTi.html)

My honest guess would be about 18 months or so. It's not obsolete just because it's been replaced.

its not being replaced, its staying as an entry level while the Xsi is like the gap between the Xti and the 40D

and even were it being replaced, the XSi doesn't come out for a couple more months anyway...

The price has already dropped quite a bit. It will continue to drop slowly as dealers empty their stock. Unfortunately many dealers still have Rebel XTs in stock, so I wouldn't think the price will drop too drastically.

Shameless plug:
If you are interested I have a black body XT for sale ($325 like new)and will sell it with a 28-135 IS lens ($625 total) if you are interested. I have a 100% feedback on Ebay (260), PM me.
