CompactFlash cards-which are the best?

Okay, so I'm thinking about buying a Canon XT or XTi. I need a good CompactFlash card for it. I am looking for something that is fast, although not too expensive. I want at least 1GB. Which are better-Lexar, Kingston, Sandisk, Transcend, or something else? Is that a good one to get?

Memory cards are commodities. They all will work fine in your camera if they have the specs you want. I've used Transcend SD cards for the past 2 years and they've never failed on me.

That would depend on which DSLR you own. Different cameras achieve difference results. See here...

I just got my D300. Great camera. It's one weakness is it's write speed after a burst. But no camera is perfect. :)

I use a SanDisk Extreme IV from 4Gb (http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(1994)-SDCFX4-4096-901-SanDisk_Extreme_IV_CompactFlash_4GB.aspx) here, it works very nice and never have problems with it.

500+ full jpeg resolution shots per card. I also have a 4 gig Sandisk Ducati Extreme IV+. All of them are faster at write speed than any of the EOS Rebels and they download to my puter quiackly. Sandisk cards are respected and have a good warrenty. I have a PNY that works, but it is NOT as fast as the Sandisks. And they are all almost a year old now.


Whatever yo do, buy from a reputable dealer. There are some Sandisk fakes out there, but Amazon, B&H and a few others will have real cards.
