Hey, I have been researching these two cameras (eos digital rebel, and the d70) for quite awhile and one issue i am torn over is that i stumbled upon a reveiw(can't find it now) that mentioned how much the buffer on the eos dragged compared to the d70, i was wondering if anyone has tried both cameras(i really don't intend for this to turn into a canon vs nikon war) and has any useful information regarding this. thanks a bunch in advance!

I don't think you will get an argument over the fact that the D70 is a faster camera than the DReb. Documented buffer to flash transfer rates show the D70 is almost 3 times faster.

You can check this here:

As the D70 is the next step up from the DReb, the same can be said for the 20D and the D70. This progression can continue to the 1Ds Mk II once the D2X is on the market.

thanks George, that really helps me out. I went to a camera store today to get a feel for the two cameras and pretty much decided to go with the d70, it just feels more like a professional camera.
thanks again for the info and link,

I like it. And after 8 months and close to 4500 shots, I find that I can't go back to an all-in-one. The D70 is a great balance of performance and price that the others haven't matched so far.

My only gripe is the cost of Nikkor image stabilized (VR) lenses. Canon seems to have found a way to make good glass affordable. Also, save yourself some time and go with the Sigma 18-125 DC instead of the Nikkor 18-70 kit lens.
