Hi i had a DSCP31,2mpx cybershot and it really gave me nice and perfect shots !!!!!
i sold it and HOW I MISS IT !!!!!!!!!
i bought a DSC-P41 two weeks ago and it was a headache !!!!
most of the shots i tried was indoors and it really sucked,
i tried it out doors and its really impressive, nice and very nice shots.
whats the problem with indoors?
it has really a slow shutter and EVEN trying with ISO 400 if you shake a bit (inevitable shake while pressing the shooter)the pic comes blurry !
i tried all the scenes mode,AF illuminator on,off, single focus..monitor focus
and ..the same results.
my old DSCP31 was way faster and it didnt came blurry at all !
what can we do to avoid BLURRY SHOTS indoors ?
whats the perfect combination ?
i dont know ,..im really tired of it ..i tried even pressing the shooter halfway down to focus and sometimes it came blurry anyway !
do i have to sell it ?
and get a DSCP31 again ?
HELP !

I have a Sony F828 which has a histogram and settings showing for my pics.

ISO 400 and slow shutter speeds would indicate to me the flash is not

working or has been shut off. Most indoor shots on my camera at least are

around ISO 60 or 100 and shutter speeds 1/40 or 1/50ish.

You didn't mention the slow speed number. However, slow shutter

speeds (slower than 1/20 ish) usually require a tripod to

avoid hand shake which will make a blurry picture. Maybe you could hit a

reset button somewhere on the camera to put it back to factory and maybe

that would help. Keep posting-would like to know how it turns out.

I don't have the model but the speeds/ISO theory should be applicable. Dave

Well, to me, it looks like slow shutter is whats causing the blur. Are you taking pictures in AUTO / PROGRAM mode? Or is it under Shutter Priority mode?

Shutter Priority mode allows you to control how long the camera's 'eye' stays open. To me it seems (unusually) that your camera is keeping it's eye open more then it should and thats what is causing the blur. This website does not seem to have a review of DSC-P41 and so I can't tell if this camera even has a Shutter Priority mode available. But back to the blurry pictures issue.....to me, this should not happen in AUTO or PROGRAM mode of the camera (especially Auto).

Jet you're totally right. I had (still have) my Fuji 2MP that has given me wonderful pics. Our family bought 3 of these P41s at Christmas and all of them give the same mediocre results. Indoor images are usually blurry. Seems this camera can't handle slower shutter speeds like the Fuji did. One of the great things about a dig camera is it's ability to take low light shots w/out flash. Well not with this one. And for that matter the weak flash on this always gives a hot spot which looks totally unnatural.

If I could I'd take this back to Best Buy, but it's been too long. For a while I didn't check the pics (assuming they were at least as good as the Fuji) Then I assumed it was operator error.

There is no shutter priority mode. And like Jet, I've tried every mode possible. It's a little technical marvel I must admit. Many of these functions are on my Nikon 35mm. It's a great camera....but it just doesn't take good pictures!!!
