I know it is capable of shooting this resoloution 1920 x 1080 (16:9 HDTV), my question is does the AV cable it comes with have a component/HD output?
just curious, I have yet to recieve my camera (it's on the way)
I would be nice to give a slide show from the camera for those with HD compatible TV's

The camera comes with a composite video and mono audio cable. It does not have a component connection for a true HD signal. I haven't shot any photos yet in the HD aspect ratio so everything I view from the camera on my plasma TV has been in the regular 4:3 aspect ratio. But in general, my experience is that widescreen TV's don't treat a composite video input as native 16:9. So even if you shot in HD mode on the camera I think you'd have to do the stretch thing in the TV. But I guess I could try it later to be sure. In the meantime, I think the advantage to shooting 1920X1080 is in case you want to use the photos to create a DVD slide show and you render out the timeline/burn the DVD in the widescreen aspect ratio. Anyone else?
