Can anyone recommend a wide angle lens converter for the S3 IS?

Are there any under $100 that work well?

I'd suggest taking a look at this on-line comparison of wide angle converter lenses for the S2, S3, and S5:

Check out the results of the Raynox DCR-6600Pro 52mm 0.66x HD. It has the least barrelling effect, even at a greater wide angle capability than the others. Although prices are quoted for it around $130, I got it from 47th Street Photo for $99.95 plus S&H. I checked the 47th Street Photo site and the price is still available. I had to dig around on the site to find it again. Note that at the Lensmate site you can buy a 52mm adaptor for it. Whereas the Canon adaptor is plastic, the Lensmate is metal and fits perfectly with no looseness of fit.

I used Canon conversion lenses on my A95 amd A630 and I guess they were acceptable IQ, though a bit expensive. Never used Raynox. Opteka should be avoided as they are crap.

I had a Canon plastic adaptor on each conversion lens to make it easier to remove and attach the lens. Hated screwing and unscrewing them, and the rear portion (macro lens part) kept coming off the main conversion lens.

The Canon adaptor fit snugly - much better than the aluminum adaptor made by Bower that came with the Opteka.

I don't have any accessories for the S3, though.
