Is there any way to enter copyright information, for example my name, on the camera, so that it tags the pictures in the metadata?

As far as I know, you can only edit that IPTC data through a software app, like Picture Project, PS, Lightroom, etc. The D80 does have an image comment option that allows you to tag each image with a pre-defined comment of about 20 characters. That data is viewable in Picture Project or CaptureNX. I haven't tried to see if it's viewable with any other app though. The D50 maybe similar.

I have put my name in the image comment tag, but that doesn't show up in LightRoom.

If you want the copyright info to show on the image like this

You do that in Lightroom.

If you want copyright info to show in the Exif or IPTC data that can also be done in Lightroom but I'm at work so I don't have a copy to look at.
If you want to use Lightroom for these send me a PM and I will send you instructions tonight.

I put my name in the image comment field and it seems to work. It doesn't show up in some summarized exif views, and sometimes you have to dig for it, but you can see it in the properties of my flickr photos:

You're right!! I tried it out on flickr and it showed my Image Comment tag too.

Ok as long as I know it's actually in there somewhere I'm happy.

Getting the 18-135mm Nikkor lens tomorrow, a friend of mine bought a D80 and he doesn't need the kit lens. I can't wait to see how much better it will be than my 18-55mm kit lens.
