For Christmas I received a circular polarizing filter. The packaging says "premium multi-coated optics for digital SLR cameras" etc...

Does this need any kind of special care to ensure the coating isn't ruined? Can I use fluid to clean it? If not, what can/should I use to clean it.

I have a "lens pen" - one end is a soft retractable brush, the other end is a a soft pad with a substance on it that removes smudges on lenses etc... Is it safe to use that on the filter?

This and any other information would be very much appreciated.

Care for it just like you would for any of your lenses. What is bad for the lens is bad for the filter too.

You will eventually have to use some sort of fluid to clean it, just use something made for lenses. Same goes for the cloth - I wouldn't use a paper towel (they're more abrasive than you think).

The Lens Pen should be fine for the filter.
