The Canon A710 used to be in the Buyer's Guide as one of the best cameras. Why isn't it in the Hall of Fame? Should the A720 be in the Buyer's Guide as a top camera? The review said it's highly recommended.

Something that I found remarkable:

My A710 is "Made In Japan". The three A720 cameras I have checked so far are all "Made In China".

To check for for yourself. Look at the bootem of the cameras.

On an unrelated note: I am very happy with my A710.

Yeah, that fact was discussed over in DPReview. Their review of the 720 stated,

"The A720 IS is constructed from inexpensive plastics and it feels like it the moment you pick it up."

I thought that strange because the previous review of the 710 said "feels solid." I happen to find myself in Circuit City so I went to check out the 720, and they were right! It now has a cheap plastic feel that reminded me of the Fuji A800 I got for my mom.

Like cklammer said...I'm happy with my A710, especially now that I got the full set of converter lenses for only 100 bucks! :p

My A610 says Made in China. Feels solid though. I've had it for two years with no problem.
