I'd really like to get a Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8, but I don't have the cash for it. So I am heavily looking at the Sigma 18-50.

I had a Sigma 24-70 for about a week. It was alright, focus was slow and the big glass on the end (82mm!!) glared real badly. Lastly I really didn't think it produced a good image.

So to all the peeps with the 18-50 f/2.8 HSM lens, hows that working out for ya? Oh, and I will only buy a lens with HSM (The nikon AF-S system has spoiled me  )

does anyone have the HSM here yet ?
i have the non-HSM. optically its great. but same as your sigma, AF is slow and noisy in comparison to af-s.

I have the HSM version. I like the IQ. Although, sometimes it is a bit soft wide open. It focuses fairly quickly on my D70s. Anyhow, below are some pics I have taken with this lens

I have it and I love. I have a thread here when I got it. I pulled a lot of the pictures, but here you go ...

This was the first night I had the lens.

I left that picture large so you can see the detail of the rose.

I got up pretty close to those leaves. I have one where I was only a few inches a way, but I pulled that one off flickr already.

I really love the lens. I sold my kit lens, and use this one more of the time.
