I am looking for a camera with a street price under $400, 6X or greater optical zoom with RAW capability. What are my choices?
I really wish there was a site (may be one but I haven't found it yet), that would let me specify all the things I want in a camera some descending order of priority and then would present a list of choices and reviews.
Thanks.
Jojo

There are not many sub 400.00 cameras that have raw capability..The Canon G9 has the 6x zoom and raw and is right around that price level.

Here are the list of non-dSLRs with RAW - http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php?search=1&manSearch=0&resSearch=0&zoomSearch=0&storageSearch=0&cameraTypeSearch=1&priceSearch=0&lcdSearch=0&batterySearch=0&rawSearch=Y&submit.x=39&submit.y=7
As you can see, you choices are somewhat limited, and they generally are expensive. If RAW is a primary concern, you'll have to chose from that list.

Not sure if any of these will work but how about the Olympus sp-560 or the Panasonic DMC-FZ18S ?
The Panny has better optics and the Oly has more features and a bit better low light performance.
I am a noob but I was researching all this (still doing so) so I thought I will share my findings. :)

Thanks. This is exactly the type list I was looking for!

Yeah, I looked at the G9. But it is ugly design and a lot of people are complaining about some problem with the LCD screens lately.

The Canon S3 is good outdoors (not good low light/high ISO) for under $300, and there is a third-party firmware hack upgrade that allows the use of RAW among other things.
