I am ready to buy. This form has been extrememly helpful! I am having a difficult time finding the FX20 in store, I am going to have to order it online. But I haven't found a place that carries the FZ20 plus Panasonic brand SD cards. From reading this froum, I see that most people believe the Panasonic brand memory cards are the fastest in writing speed. Anyone know of a place that carries both? Also, what other accessories do you reccomend I buy?

but check out this test:

I know it is in french but I suggest using "google" to translate the website.
It seems San Disk Ultra II outperforms Panasonic cards.
For getting started you also should get a close-up lens (raynox D250, Canon 250D - 500D and Nikon 6t are the best).....this type of lens is gonna help you to focus a subject by using the full zoom range in very short distances.
Neutral, UV and polarized filters are also needed.

I know what people say about the Panasonic cards, but my Kingmax SD card kicks butt - for $39.75 for 512MB :D

OK, one more question. Would you recommend buying one large SD card (i.e. 1GB) or several small (i.e. 2 512?). Does it matter the size of the card when talking about performance (I know larger cards store more images, but what about read/write speed?). My number one priority is a FAST write speed...suggestions?
I dont recall reading anyone say that the Panasonic cards are the fastest! I have a Panasonic 256MB card and it was slow! I purchased a Kingmax Platinum 60X 1GB card and it is a very fast card, for both read and write speed! I would deffinatly suggest you get one of them. I got mine at Newegg.com, it was on sale for $70, I belive they are priced at $80 or so right now. With the Panasonic all you are paying for is the name and the price is outrageous, I belive ive seen it listed at $400 for one card!!! Go with the Kingmax! You will be glad you did!

Newegg.com has the best prices for Kingmax SD memory, but they never have it in stock. I always check back throughout the days that it's supposed to be there, and nothing. I had to go to www.mwave.com and buy a 512mb for $52. Can't wait to see the cards performance once my FZ20 arrives!

SD cards
The speed difference is the write time after a burst(,weather a 3 shot or 20 shot burst) 2 second write for the fast cards and 11 seconds for the slow cards.
This is an overgeneralizing but anything over 32X ( 4mb/s) is in the fast category.
I have about 7 different brands and speeds, and the Lexar 32X is as fast as any.
I also have a DaneElectric marked as 10mb/s and it is by far the slowest card I have.
One more thing a card must be at least 256mb in size to be fast. Not that all cards that size are fast.
Here are some of the used fast cards
Panasonic
Simpletech pro
Lexar 32X
PQI 66X
Kinsmax 60X
Transcend 40X
And Sandisk Ultra,
And TEKQ SD card for those from Australia
I am sure there are others but I can vouch for these,
Well I never used a Sandisk (and never will) or the TEKO but others say they are as fast.
