I might have mentioned this before, but I've been in sunny Florida for the holiday season and just recently returned to the PNW.
While I was down in Florida, I got the chance to do a lot of shooting in various places (Kennedy Space Center, St. Augustine, a couple Disney parks). Most of the shooting was touristy snapshots without much composition that I won't show here.
However, I did get a chance to grab some shots that I really liked that are worth sharing. One of these is shown above.
I climbed the 200+ wet slippery steps of the Ponce de Leon Inlet lighthouse just south of Daytona Beach, Florida. The drizzle outdoors kept me and the D40 inside for the most part, and I snapped a couple pictures from the stop of the lighthouse. I went back inside and started down, and happened to look down.
Though I felt a little dizzy, I took a very firm grip on the stair railing with my left hand and pulled the camera & 55-200mm VR f4-5.6 up to my face, and held down the shutter for 5 shots in continuous shooting mode. Despite the unsteady grip of the camera, VR managed to give me a good picture with a slow shutter speed. Here's the EXIF.
Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.067 sec (1/15)
Aperture: f/4
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 1600
Probably one of the toughest shots I've gotten, but I think it was worth it.
