How are the low light pics without flash? That is the biggest reason I am holding off from this camera as reviews were not favorable there. BTW, liked your web site and photos! Thanks for sharing.

well the low light pics are not as good as the older fuji f30 bcuz they hav just doubled the number of pixels in the same sensor size... but still the low light performance without flash is a lot lot better than other similar in this price class.. however if you are serious about doing low light (high ISO) photos i would reccomend a dSLR as a must... bcuz now they are just sooo cheap
is there any PP on those shots ? looks like a kind of desat effect. i really like it.

I read on DP Review that if you lower the resolution down to 6mp the pictures are just as good. I am debating about getting this one as a "toss into my pocketbook camera" so that I can have one on me always. From what I can see, you can't really buy the F30 any more, unless you want to spend like $700 or something crazy like that. With the rebate, it will be under $200! (B&H has it for $223 right now.)

abhi_morey: DSLRs are just so cheap? Please lend me some money... I'm poor.
I borrowed a F50fd from someone I know and tried a few shots. hmm....... sorry Fuji I won't recommend your F series cameras any more. Still, like many reviewers say "it's still the best lowlight camera in its class".
mugisme: Shooting at lower MP doesn't improve the quality. There are links disputing that misconception but I can't find any right now. People always ask this again and again.
Attached: My horror shot from F50, ISO1600 no flash. No PP. only rescaled.

I was toying with getting a P&S, and tried out the Fuji F40 vs the Canon G9. I was not impressed with either one, to tell you the truth. I was thinking of getting the f50, but the store I went to didn't have it.
The first shot is at ISO 400, the second 1600. Both of them are with the flash turned off, in the store, no editing.

Sorry they are so big. I didn't resize and I thought it would lose something if I posted them in the medium size from Flickr.
Actually, now that I am looking at them again, they aren't terrible.
