View Full Version : Digital camera where I can rename files on-the-spot?

The reason I ask this is because my husband uses a digital camera for his work in taking several pics a day of commercial utility equipment (which look very similar) and would like to be able to somehow enter in the serial number for the equipment right after the picture is taken to be used later in the paperwork....and avoid confusion.

I thought that this would be fairly easy to find....what with phones that take pics and text and gps etc....but am realizing that this particular type of dual capability may not even exist outside of the Ricoh RDC - i700 - which seems to be along the lines that I am looking for.....only I need it to be really tailored back to the bare bones of just being able to take a decent pic and have a keyboard of sorts to rename it right after taking the pic.

Any ideas or comments?

Thanks!

Since most cameras don't have keyboards it's hard to relabel things via the camera. However, most allow you to attach a brief voice memo to individual pictures. He could just record the serial number and there will be a small audio file associated with the image to identify it until he gets to a computer.
