I recently acquired the D300 and soon realized that it is in fact a computer of sorts...As far as the image size is concerned I set that to Large. The Image quality is another issue - there are 8 options. I shot slides before and scanned them as a TIF Images for commercial printing. I set the D300 to TIF(RBG) for home use as well but no one can't read the image on a PC. My question - Is there an optimum Image Quality setting that can be used for all situations? Commercial Printing, the average PC user, Models Portfolio, Web etc...

Thanks

The optimum image setting for the camera is RAW (,NEF). This is effectively a digital negative and the highest level of image detail is recorded.
In ganeral RAW images need to be converted to another format for display and printing. That is where you would use a post processing program (Capture NX, Lightroom, Photoshop or similar) to edit the image, tweak it to what you want it to look like then convert it to jpeg for printing or web display and maybe tif for commercial printing.
