Auto Focus Question

Recently bought the Lumix FZ20. I have a question about the auto-focus zones. There's 9 area, 3 area, 1 area, and spot. I realize they are each useful for different applications, but which is considered best? I chose 1 area becasue I wanted the control of telling the camera where to focus, fut would like other opinions.

Just my opinion but I like spot focus for the same reason, and I find 3 point useful for birds in flight. I really still am trying to get it sorted out.

True, but which provides the sharpest, most consistant focusing?

I prefer the spot focus myself. I guess it all depends on personal preference and what you will be mostly shooting. I would suggest you try all the focus settings and choose the won that looks the best to you because after all... its your opinion that matters :D
