View Full Version : Best Camera/Movie Recorder ?

Hello all , im new to the forum and have a quick question .. I want to buy hopefully the best Camera that also has a great video recorder in my price range which is 200-300 USD . So far the best thing i found is the Casio Exilim EX-V8 and the Canon PowerShot S3 IS . any help would be greatly appreciated

When you say "great" video recorder, exactly how much are you expecting? Nothing will give you camcorder quality, the same way no camcorder will give you still camera quality for snapshots. As long as your expectations are in line with reality though, the S3/5 has the best movie mode I've ever used on a still camera, the only annoyance being the format. It's extremely large, and can be slow to work with as far as editing. That wouldn't be a concern to everyone though. So I guess again, the question of exactly what are you expecting to get out of it/use it for would be in order.

these sample videos of the S3/5 is the closest thing to what i mean when i say great , I just want a camera that takes good quality pictures and takes good videos aswell .. quick question to you though .. If/When you take videos do they come out this good?

A poll with just two choices is kinda silly. :)
The two cameras have nearly identical video modes, you're not going to see much if any difference. For still photography, the hot shoe on the S5 is a very important distinction if you are going to be shooting in low light with flash.
Yes, they both take very nice video.
