Apparently, Nikon has lowered their MSRP for the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR lens and Cord is offering free shipping in the US...

Had been contemplating and watching eBay demo units being bid up to $420+ + $15 for shipping but I figured this will be a late present from the wife to me without her knowing about it. Now I'll need to see if my kittie Tamron 70-300 macro LD is worth anything...

Well we all can't be like you, get a D300 for Christmas and use it before Christmas and still keep the wife! Well played mate!

Should we send flowers to the hospital individually or should we all pool our resources and just send a suitably sized bunch from the whole lot of us?

+$15 - shipping  Go figure - The thrill of the gamble to win at any costs
The wife & I have this understanding... I work, my paycheck is automatically deposited and she takes it from there :(
Christmas time (all year long...), she does the shopping and I get to be surprised with the gifts that I gave.
We decided a long time ago that it didn't make sense for either of us to buy presents for each other so we've been putting the exchange of gifts between us towards a vacation trip or cruise instead. Of course, there always seems to be a present in her stocking that's labeled 'From me to me'
Taking that lead, I figure I can do the same thing...;)
I'll let all know in a week or so when the new lens is delivered... Should make for a good compliment to my 18-70 DX lens for the March cruise

Go for it, 399 and a little yelling isn't a bad price to pay. I bought my d200 with the 18-70 and the 70-300vr in March for 1750 off craigslist. But I did have to dance a bit when I added the sb800 to my sb600. Got that for 313 from Abes. Had to convince her I really needed 2 strobes.
Of course the real challenge will be when I order the D3, may have to sell the motorcycle for that one, lol.
Anyway good luck. I love the glass.

The warranty statement kind of weirds me out.
Nikon 1-Year Worldwide Warranty or 5-Year Limited Warranty valid in USA, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands

just curious, this "price reductions" hasn't seemed to trickle down to anyoen else, including ebay. Any one have any experience with this vendor?

A few DPR members indicated they've purchased over the years from Cord with no issues and good pricing...

As to the 1-year International or 5-Year USA warranty - I believe its to cover international purchases/shipments of the items.
Indications were that Cord only had 15 of the lenses and they're now not showing it on their web site...
