Hi All,
I am very happy to have found this forum. Although i am very much an amateur in photography i hope i can contribute in some way in the future. :D
My experience has been limited to exploring unique angles and situations with my Camera phones (W900i and Nokia N95) - I also own a Canon EOS (Film Camera) which i have had great experiences (The only drawback really is the film part)
I would really like to invest in a good digital camera with affordable accessories so i can grow my photography skills and i need your advice!
As per the sticky i've posted answers to the questions:
Budget: Price isn't really too much of an issue but i would like something in the $1000-$2000 price range.
Size: Size does not really matter to me but of course not too big. By "too big" i mean something i have to hold with both hands and a tripod...
Megapixels: I guess I would like quite a high performance camera so anything 8-10MP
Zoom: I definitely would like some optical zoom and the more the better, but does this not depend on the lens?
Image quality This is important to me - I would rate it at 8 or 9/10
Use I would like a multi-purpose camera but i especially would like to use it for landscape pictures, i have a weak spot for sunsets and dusk photos. However it would be nice to be able to use it at parties, events etc..
Eventually i'd like to do time lapse pictures and micro photography (with the correct lenses) :)
Prints: I would like to be able to make big prints. (A0 or A1 size)
- I will probably be shooting quite a lot of low light photos, more so than daylight photos.
- I will not really be shooting sports / action photos but i would like to have this option. I really like those blurry time lapse photos
Brand: I particularly like Canon (heard good things about the 350D) but i have heard many good things about Nikon - I guess i would prefer a Canon but this is why i'm asking you guys for your advice. I guess i will also need the hot shoe :confused:
Last but not least I'd like a camera that doesn't have accessories that cost an arm and a leg - As i understand it depending on what you are shooting one will either need a independant flash, bigger lenses, more specialised lenses and accessories for the camera. From what i can see lenses are expensive! :eek:
