hi Friends,
I am a newbie and planning to buy an ultracompact this weekend. Please help me choose one.
Budget
* I live in India so local grey market prices matter. apprx prices around $200
Size
* Looking for an ultracompact. thickness less than 1 inch weight with batt less than 200gms
Features
I would like Optical Image stabilzation and good red eye reduction.
How many megapixels will suffice for you? No less than 7.0
* What optical zoom will you need? 3x-4x
* How important is “image quality” to you? 7-8
Do you care for manual controls? No
General Usage
* What will you generally use the camera for? Taking pics of friends/family. A fair amount of indoor shots. Also outdoor pics of landscapes and maybe animals basically amateur photography.
* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? Not on aregular basis.
95% of the time 5 X 7 max.
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? Yes.
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? No
Miscellaneous
Are there particular brands you like or hate? SONY, Nikon Canon I like
Are there particular models you already have in mind?
Sony Cybershot w80/w90, Cannon SD850IS( guess it is above budget), Sony T20, Sony T70 ( again over budget i Think), Nikon S510, Nikon s51.
Particularly intersted in Nikon s510 and sony T20.
(Do you need any of the following special features? I mainly need Image Stabilization and I would like good red eye reduction.
