Hi

I was wondering if anyone can provide me with feedback on the Fuji F810 which I am considering buying.

I thought it had a 28mm wide angle but have since found out that this is 32.5mm. Does anyone know if the software will allow me to 'stich' photo's together to obtain the wider view and if so is this easy to use and does it produce good results?

Has anyone used the underwater housing for this camera and if so how did it perform?

Finally, any general comments re. the F810 and any suggestions of other cameras I should consier buying by someone who wants to have wide angle and zoom options e.g 4X optical zoom would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Carol

I've used a colleague's F810 for work and generally it's a nice camera to use with its large LCD. We also tried the 12MP interpolated photos and it produced a huge picture (4MB++). However the interpolated 12MP is basically a gimmick as it's not really that sharp compared to the 6MP photos.

The only one problem that I don't like about the F810 is the serious CA (purple fringing) problem in high contrast conditions. The amount of CA is more obvious than it should be from a camera of its class. Even my C770UZ has less CA problems compared to this camera.

Other than that, not much to complain about it, better shot to shot time, shutter lag and controls layout compared to my C770UZ.

If you are interested in the Fuji F-810, then you might also want to look at the Fuji E-550 which is exactly the same camera in a different case at a savings of more than $100 to $130 approximately.

If you really are interested in a wideangle lens, please also take a look at the Canon S-60/70 and the Fuji E-510. All offer a true wide angle.

Is there a review in the works here for the 810? I've read some favorable reviews so far, and the camera is in my top 3 list, but I really like the way DCResource does it's reviews and I like to be able to see reviews on the different cameras with the same tests. With that in mind, I dont want to make a decision until I can see the review here.
