I've recently purchased a FugiFilm FinePix S9100 and love it, however the other night I attempted to take a picture of a full moon with no success. I tried many different settings all on a tripod. I was unable to get any kind of detail and focusing seemed to be impossible with both view finders. Is there a way to do this that I am missing?
Thanks,
T

It would help if you'd post one of the photos. Do you know how to post photos here? It's easy.

Another thing you can do is check the settings. Often people don't realize what a short shutter speed is really needed for moon shots. The combo that works best for me is around ISO 200, f/16, and 1/350 sec. If your camera has lower than ISO 200 (such as ISO 50 or ISO 200,) use that. And you may find better results at f/8 or f/11, but f/16 works for me.

When it comes to focusing, I don't know how well it works to use the LCD screen. I just look through the viewfinder. Many people say manual focusing is better than auto focusing for moon shots, but I can't really see well enough to manually focus on the moon.
