What are the expectations for the new Pentax cameras for the end of January? Will it live up to, or exceed our expectations. Well personally, I think they will and in bucket-loads. But then again, my criteria is quite specific to my work flow. I believe that what they will release will be a precedent setter, just as the K10D set the barometer higher than all of the competing brands in that category. In fact the K10D seemed to want to play ball in the Big Leagues and came out looking pretty damned good.
Don't want to be vague, but this is the best I can do for now. All I can say, is as a professional, what will be on offer will more than suffice.

Well I'm going to go for a K10D after Christmas. For a first SLR I think it will do quite nicely. Rather then waiting for the new ones which will cost considerably more, I think the K10D is the better deal for me.

You are quite right , i`ve had a K10d for a few months and it was very good indeed , lot`s of features and beautifull ergonomics which for me is the mmost important factor.
Like you said , it`s now the best time to buy it or maybe just wait a little till the new k20d is out , then they`ll be disperate to sell the K10d :D

I absolutely LOVE my K10D!!! I've had it since Sept 2007 and have taken a couple thousand photos so far! I just saw an article about the new Pentax K200D & K20D cameras-- someone mentioned them on the yahoo DSLR groups. Here's a couple links to some articles...

They looked awesome! It looks like they took the K10D and just moved forward from there. VERY expensive from what I paid for mine, but still not near the cost of Canons. If I knew the others were coming, I might have waited for the K10D's price to come down but then I wouldn't be having as much fun now!

I'm seriously considering the Pentax K100D Super with an 18—55 Pentax "kit" lens for AUD$699-95 including 4x2900NiMh AAs and a charger.
Cheers :)
