Hmmm. So does the D300 take a EN-EL9 or the other one? Kinda conflicting reports/pictures in the article.
:D
(Sorry, I had to be a smart@$$ about it)
Yeah, might need to fix that typo.
yeah the revews are coming in now. popphoto has theirs up including giving the d300 one of those camera of the year jobbies. camera labs has also posted their review. the only one left worthwhile reading is the dpreview version.
kiwi...ohhhhh kiwiiiiiiiii :p
DPReview seem to post their major reviews on a Sunday our time so keep an eye out tomorrow.

Chardog, your 30D is just fine. In fact, its a great camera and there is nothing sucky about it. I have seen great images from Xti's and 30D's in the hands of great photographers. The grass always seems greener on the other side... but you know what... it's really not!

I have thought about it...a little. I will wait till the D300fx comes out before think about upgrading from my D200. Just think how all these people that rushed into getting the D300 are going to feel when the D300FX has D3-esque noise control and IQ. ;)
about the same as you'll feel with a d300fx when the d400fx comes out. :p
besides which, i'm not about to jump to FF until they make telephoto lens' half the price. ;)

Kind of what I was thinking. D200 does everything I need well for now. I've been thinking my next camera would be full frame, but a D3 is a little steep. My local shop would take the D200 in on trade on a D300 but it would still be another $1000 out of pocket... Once they have a few used D200's I don't think they would offer that.

instead focus on your photography skills or maybe some glass but not a new body
thats one thing that I've realized..

seeing camerlabs comparisons they think 5D (being much older camera) still beats D300 in ISO tests??? and they also menton they expect successor to 5D in early 2008!!!

I tend to agree with Thom on this issue. Are these comparisons actually using signal to noise ratios as objective primary endpoints? Many do not and just feed the Canon vs. Nikon debate. A D200, D300, 5D, soon to be 6D will all take great pictures. The newer generation of cameras will have a definite advantage over the older generation depending on what you shoot and what is most important to you.
